Last week, January 23-25, roughly 100 Chinese students visited Monrovia High School. Each student was assigned to a Renaissance student, ASB student, or a student from our Mandarin class to shadow them for three days and get a taste of what it is like to be a student here at MHS. Our renaissance students absolutely loved getting to know their Chinese students and many of them are still in contact with each other. Overall the visit was a huge success and we hope to see some of them back on campus next year! Some of the Chinese students enjoying In-N-Out for the first time, courtesy of some of our renaissance seniors. While they were here, we also hosted a volleyball game between our staff and varsity girls volleyball team. All of the Chinese students attended and had a great time!

On January 20 Renaissance completed the second and final step of passport to success with this years freshmen class. All of the freshmen were ushered into our gym to dress up in cap and gown and take a photo as a look into their future as graduates of Monrovia High School. After everyone's picture had been taken, our principal Mr. McGinnis gave a motivating speech about how important it is to work hard and graduate. After, our very own Renaissance coordinator Mr. Dols also stressed the importance of graduating high school. The class of 2020 left the gym feeling inspired and ready to succeed. Renaissance now plans to send a photo of each student to their parents, as a way to make sure that the importance of graduating is recognized by the whole family. We can't wait to repeat Passport to Success again next year, so watch out class of 2021!
